A Suitable Wardrobe is a San Francisco Bay area-based publisher and online retailer of classic clothing and accessories for well dressed men. The A Suitable Wardrobe website combines a store that offers a variety of world-class clothing, shoes and accessories, much of it made by hand, with an award-winning online publication about classic men's clothing and style.
History
The editorial portion of the website was launched in November, 2007 by Will Boehlke, a former marketing consultant with a life-long interest in classic menswear, and quickly attracted a following. A Suitable Wardrobe was recognized as one of the top 100 blogs in the world by London's Sunday Times in 2009, and as one of the ten best fashion blogs in the world by the Guardian in 2010. The blog was followed by the online store in 2010. The combined site now attracts more than 300,000 views each month.
The Store
Years ago, in the world's great menswear cities, a man went to a specialist for his tailored clothing and then visited his favorite haberdashery for his other wardrobe requirements. A Suitable Wardrobe's Haberdashery means to be your favorite source for tasteful accessories.
The craftsmen and artisans represented in the store number among the best of their kind in the world. We are authorized resellers for each of our lines, which range from small firms like Calzificio Bresciani, Drake's London, Luciano Barbera, and Simonnot-Godard to cult favorites like Ireland's Inis Meáin, E&G Cappelli of Naples and Milan's SW1, and we are able to guarantee that every item we sell is authentic. We also believe that clothing should fit. Instead of taking a 'one size fits some' approach to inventory management the store stocks products such as neckties and socks in a range of sizes, with made to measure versions available for men who are not accommodated by the regular offerings.
